Breckinridge Health, Inc. is fortunate to have the services of twelve dietary cooks, a dietary manager and a medical nutrition therapist in meeting the needs of preparing meals for hospitalized patients, long term care residents, staff and visitors. All of the dietary cooks have had specialized training in food safety and many have also acquired the Serv-safe food safety sanitation certification offered by the National Restaurant Association. The Hospital's dietary manager is certified, she coordinates the day to day operations, including food orders, personnel schedules, special functions and dinners. The medical nutrition therapist offers diet assessments, nutrition recommendations, patient and community education programs and provides an opportunity for outpatient diet counseling through a physician or health care provider referral process. She also helps the cardiac rehab and pulmonary rehab departments with nutrition counseling.
